About us.
The three founders of Fort Point Timber have been working for several years, together and separately, to advance mass timber’s use in construction in the Boston area and beyond. As they participated in numerous forums and outreach efforts to encourage mass timber’s adoption, they found that one of the biggest obstacles was a lack of consistent material supply and clear pricing. They also noticed the need for a locally-based company that can help project teams strategize for efficient mass timber solutions with real time cost and schedule considerations. They offer Fort Point Timber as a path to connect the tremendous need for housing in the U.S. Northeast with the mature mass timber supply chain of Europe, all with a local partner who can guide the process every step of the way.

With sixteen years of experience in climate policy, Nicole St. Clair Knobloch began working for mass timber use as a climate and housing solution in 2017. Through two U.S. Forest Service grants and an AECD industry consortium she founded, Timber Edge, her work at her company, Olifant, inspired the Mass Timber Accelerator Grant program in Boston, New York City, and other cities across the U.S. When outside of work, she rides a horse in MA’s Blackstone River Valley, competing in hunter/jumper shows.
